I love Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings!!!!!!!!! I heard for the first time when cnn.com featured them on a review of music and instantly fell in love with them!!!!!!  Cool soul music with a retro vibe that’s delicious!  I’m ssssssoooo excited I could scream.  I am originally from around the area of Pittsburgh and my Sister works in the city; imagine my surprise when she texted me about the band coming to play!!!!!!!!AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH.  I’m forcing  my Sister to go with her big brother to see them…it’s a Brother and Sister Night Out on the town!  I can’t wait for Jan. 23rd :):):):):)

Above is one of my fav songs that I’m praying she will play…but let me be frank I LOVE ALL HER SONGS!  If you come you might just get to see Sammy try and get on stage to dance with her!  She usually picks a couple of guys to get on stage with her and you bet  your sweet as that I want to be one of them!

Man with a walking cane

Last night I went to trivia at a local bar…yes, yes I’m on a trivia team…..stop judging.  Afterwards, several of us hung around ordered drinks and chatted with the bartender.  Our conversation flowed from one topic to the next and we ended up discussing the end of the world a la the movie 2012…it was just a random ebb of conversation at that particular moment…when from across the bar an older man spoke loud enough to try and invite himself into our conversation saying “the only thing I think that’s keeping us on this Earth is gravity.”  He said it one more time then walked away slowly with his cane.  I immediately countered (in my mind) the only thing keeping us on earth is our ability to perform life providing mechanisms like breathing etc, but now that I look back at it and gravity (in its most literal sense) is the only thing keeping us on the planet…literally…touch`e man with cane toch`e.

I feared he was coming to sit  by me when he left the bar (I’m lucky enough to attrack crazy people like that)…luckily he took his drink else where.  Totally random and totally weird….sometimes I feel things like this only happen in Erie.

So we’ve had gay marriage losses in both Maine and New York but that isn’t going to stop us from going for New Jersey.  Yes folks we gays are moving to New Jersey and bringing the battle for gay marriage with us

New Jersey is no stanger to gay controversy either.  Gov. Jim McGreevey came out while in office admitting to an extra marital affair with a man.  But…that’s water under the bridge….and I plan on reading his book 😉

Not only will we be storming the beaches of Cape May with the the battle for equal rights but we have a little star power backing us up!  Bruce, the end all of end alls, Springsteen has recently posted the following in support for our battle for Civil and Marriage Rights!

“Like many of you who live in New Jersey, I’ve been following the progress of the marriage-equality legislation currently being considered in Trenton. I’ve long believed in and have always spoken out for the rights of same sex couples and fully agree with Governor Corzine when he writes that, “The marriage-equality issue should be recognized for what it truly is — a civil rights issue that must be approved to assure that every citizen is treated equally under the law.” I couldn’t agree more with that statement and urge those who support equal treatment for our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters to let their voices be heard now.” ~ Bruce Springsteen

So we  have a month before the Gov. elect takes office in Jersey (Chris Christie) who has already said he would veto the bill.  So now is the time to start your writing and calling to New Jersey lawmakers and get this important legislation through.

Also, here is a little shout out to Natalie, my NJ homegirl/blogger who will have a front row seat in the battle for gay marriage!  Check her out she’s a great blogger: Book, Line, and Sinker
